How to safely dispose of all those return sticky mail labels?

Recycle bin is where my items go.
According to the article in the link below, putting " labels, stickers, stamps, and tape in the recycling bin causes more harm than good".
They suggest shredding it, but avoiding contact between the adhesive with the shredder blade so you don't damage the blades.

Elizabeth,. Start by removing one, and use the sticky side to remove the next one. Do about ten, then roll into a ball. You can't cut with scissors. If you put a sheet of paper over the stickers, they might not stick to the scissors. Aloha.
Could you explain better?
Univesal security stamp. $7.82 at Walmart. It obscures the information and you can put in regular trash.
I stick them to a plain sheet of paper then shred them.
