I would like to do something decorative as the stump can't be removed.

If you can make a hole in the middle of the stump you can insert a planter with drainage and plant flowers based on your season. If that is not possible you can put a garden accent of sort as a focal point and plant underneath with pretty colorful pots and assorted flowers.

Those are good ideas. I believe there is a liquid you can pour over the scored stump to kill it (Pinterest) and if the stump is large, you or a friend could carve the stump into something decorative.

@Susan Burgess There is a product available to kill the stump. It is called stump out, however it is a long process. So I do not think that is the idea she was looking for.

What's the size/height of the stump?

Use it in a fairy garden. Put the little doors and windows and make a roof and put some fairies out there. Plow and Hearth sells resin tree stumps that are fairy dwellings. They could give you some ideas. Or you could make a flower garden and put a border around it. Plant some tall plants/flowers so the stump can't be seen. In many years it will rot away naturally.

Make it in to a fairy house---or level off the top and attach a round or square table top.

If you are handy with tools you could make a small tree house on top of the stump. Or create a tall bird feeder in the center of the stump and place plants around the bottom of the feeder.

If could have a photo of where it is might help get more ideas. I was thinking stool or table myself.

I added rocks and flowers around mine, and placed planters on top, one year I put lawn ornaments on top, like squirrel s and butterflies

I have the same question(s) as KatAych - I'm wondering what are the dimensions of it, such as diameter, circumference, & height of this stump?

A tiered flower garden, the stump being a pedestal for the centre of the garden, place a pot or dig out and Kant in it

I use my large stump for plant containers. I have a tall, urn shaped planter in the center with smaller ones around it. how tall is your stump? How big around or across? Some people make gnome homes out of their stumps.

If you have a chainsaw, with just a few cuts it can become seating.

Carve it into something beautiful start with a small chainsaw to get rid of bulk then down to hammer chisels and sanders

Put a roof and door on it for a little house? If it is large it could be used for seating. A pot of flowering plants on it would be nice. Make a bird bath with the stump as a base and a large bowl. If the stump if tall a round top to make a table . Have fun

If it is out of the way, I leave it for the woodpeckers. I also like putting birdhouses on mine.

I recommend to you to make it as a table. Half year ago I was in a same situation, I must cut my tree so I made it as a table with wooden chairs around. It is great idea to fulfill the environment and also look natural, or if you have small kids you can cut it off a little bit more so they can play around and have fun.

    Regards.
