Crochet around it... start at the bottom and crochet a circle (or whatever the shape of the bottle bottom is) and then start crocheting up....when the work is large enough but before you need to start increasing or decreasing stitches, slip it on the bottle and increase/decrease where needed. Use whatever decorative stitches you like.... Use the bottle as your guide. I used an ecru colored cotton string and a medium size hook...

What a gorgeous bottle. I saw a Brian Botano where he redid his ole family Italian villa and he had it cut from the base to make up hanging lights. They were amazing. Had the cord expose and all. If not just display it with lovely flowers from time to time. I also like what Dahlia suggested but I'd like also twine or jute wrapped around a big section in the middle or from bottom to almost to the neck.

These are thrown away in Italy - they are demijohns. Our daughter had an iron worker make bases for some, a large one has a wrought iron candle holder which is lower inside. Several with various sizes are home decor. Filled one with corks, ideas are endless. Just don't anything to it. It's gorgeous.
