If you want to use them for heavy books fill with concrete, then paint and decorate how ever you want,. After you fill with concrete you could put some flat marbles.

I always collected egg cartons; there are so many different styles. I used only the bottom part, glued them to a piece of wood (whatever size you want), painted them white on a white background, framed, it became a very interesting piece of art, especially on a dark wall. I made a smaller one for the kitchen - stuck one red wooden egg into one slot.

There are so many great shapes like that - many lend themselves to creating art, not just by painting them different colors, but attaching/gluing beads, feathers, other "found" objects.

    Use your imagination.

I got a bunch of these when the school I work at got new Ipads. So I used them for kid projects. We used them to make a gingerbread house for a village. You could Use them for a fairy house too. Another project I did was to make faux cukoo Clocks with them. Last I made a slit in the center( length wise) and added a framed card and decorated the triangle base with a theme to match. Art Deco worked great because of the angled shape. If I find the pictures I'll post them so you can have a visual
