You can use canvas drop cloths. Super cheap and cute option. You only need and can cut in half and then add an iron on hem. You can also use bed sheets. Here are some more ideas well.
I have found some cute curtains at my local thrift store. I bought patio drapes for my sliding glass doors because I was so tired of the ugly vertical blinds. I found two panels that fit perfect and only paid $4
I've used a drop cloth in the past. You can use curtain rod clips if you don't want to sew pockets.
