How do I make curtains using tarp?

I bought tarpa for curtains. It seems they all have a side that's coated.i was trying to do a valance at top but then that shows... Help

I have a couple with no coating that I bought at Lowe’s.
most of the tarp or painters cloth I see do not have a coated side - can you return what you bought? here are ideas

You want 100% cotton drop cloths. I normally let mine sit in bleach and water for a few hours. It whitens the fabric and makes it softer.
