How to make Roman Shades using tension rods in the window frame?

Sharon on Mar 20, 2018I honestly don't know if this would work as the Roman shade requires you pulling the strings that are sewn to the back of the shade and fastened usually to the board that is mounted into the top of the window frame so you can pull on it. Most tension rods are not stable enough to take yanking on the cords.Helpful Reply

Sharon Kirby on Mar 21, 2018I have made several Roman Shades over the years. Using a tension rod is problematic if you want a working Roman. The cords rely on a strong top structure to operate. The tension rod would probably fall down when the cord is pulled to raise them. If they are stationery in the window you can just make a pocket in the top that would slide over the rod.Helpful Reply
