What would you recommend for a type of curtain for eight small windows

The windows sizes are 18 by 3 feet tall.

I would use a 36 inch curtain so that it just comes to the end of the windows. Since there are alot of inches going accross you will need a few sets.

I would go either of 2 ways. Individual Roman Shades, which can be homemade to save money, or go with long thicker curtains with maybe a swag to make area appear larger.

I like the roman shade idea with a lighter print, which would open up the area nicely, especially if the room is on the smaller side.

Can you make it look like one large picture window? A couple wide drapes, or if you want curtains, make them look like one window....Don't like so many being individual windows. Just a thought...Buy washable drapes, like cotton. I did, and it works nicely.

Do you need curtains in this room? It already looks pretty dark. I see you have sheers up now, is the reason I ask. If so, don't spend a lot. Curtains are so easy to make, or have made. Especially the size you need. Post an after pic once you get to your "happy place" with them. I'd love to see.

Depending on budget, individual shade on each window, to allow opening shade for light. Why do you need covering? Privacy, energy, light blocking? For me, and as high up as the windows appear on the wall, I would leave without any covering.

I think less is more applies here. Love Sandy G's idea of shades. Make it simple. If those are out of your budget, make curtains to look like a shade. Maybe burlap, drop cloth etc. Just have plain and straight no fullness, and to the length you want. May 1/2 to 2/3 the length of the window.

i would use tension rods, top and bottom. shear the curtains on and place inside frame. if you want to see the outside make two panels each so you can open them

If you need privacy but still need the light, consider nice lace. Use corn starch and water, paint it on the window and 'stick' the lace to the glass. It washes off easily too. Maybe you can hang something pretty in between the windows if you want to.

Very good ideas, I would get rid of the rods, hang sheers measured to fit the inside diameter of the windows. Use a tension rod. It would brighten up the entire room

I had transom windows and did shear fabric on the top and attached to fabric right under window line I did a heavy fabric so it made window look bigger/longer but I still got the light from the window.

I suppose it depends hou much light you want in there during the day. I would use a dark red or blue to give a nice hue to the room and bind each curtain to the wall face, instead of a rod. Then billow it out to each curtain, like a sail. Have fun with it!

You could shades on each window so that you have total control of how light, heat and privacy you have at any one given time. If you want the wall of windows to also have a unified look, you could drape a beautiful scarf around the ends and across the top on a beautiful decorative rod. If you don't want that, you could also consider making a DIY cornice out of a fabric that ties in nicely with the other colors in the room and run that across the top. If you would go the cornice route, there are lots of great tutorials online that show you how to make them out of something very lightweight like foam core board or styrofoam. Our windows are 28" x 21". I put wooden valences made with 1" x 6" boards over mini blinds. However, we put up one way mirror film on the glass. It's a clean look, while giving us privacy. (The film helps keep the heat out in the summer and cold out in the winter.)

is there a view you want to look at? do you need privacy? I'd do a stencil design on each window with a frosted paint in a white or light pastel. Tack a series of vintage doilies, linen napkins, or fetching hankies folded diagonally stretched just at the top of the window. Switch them out for holiday or seasonal themes.

Do you want to be able to look out or light come in ? I had a front door that any one could come up on the porch and look in the house, I took Press and Seal its like wax paper I cut it to fit the window and pressed in on the glass works great and lets light in. I am on a budget, plus no tension rod would fit this or paint the glass with the itching paint but you cant look out its only good for light to come thru.

I had an apple theme in my kitchen and needed a small window covering. I found a small wood apple, hot glued to the clamp part of a cafe curtain ring. Slide the ring on a small rod and attach a cute tea towel to the clamps. If you have wilderness theme, a pine cone would be cute on the ring. You could use fake fruit, veggies, flowers, perhaps some pretty victorian broches on each clamp. Think of your them and think outside the box. Happy decorating!

Definitely shutters...you can open n close them when you want. Get unfinished ones then paint or stain however you want.

If privacy isn't an issue, I would not use curtains at all. Add a long, continuous shelf over all the windows and then accent it with baskets or something that goes with your décor.

Curtains should be Shorter and maybe Opaque Sheers or solid ones What does rest of room look like? Maybe cafe' style curtains ! ! How far from the ground are the windows on the outside? maybe some frosted stuff you could just put on the Glass, The Press and Seal Wrap you use in the Kitchen would work too. That would be a Cheap way to start ... the bulky Curtain Rod above need to get rid of.. I like the Sue's Idea about Shelf above the windows too.. and even a Window seat type Storage Bench Below.. for seating.

Wooden shutters or , bamboo panels . They are like blinds but wider . I bet these windows are the right with for them . It depends on if you country or classic or modern decor. You could soften them by putting a curtain across the top by looping it.

So many possibilities, and your choice depends on your decor style, view, and need for privacy (or not), I suggest you treat them as one large window and put pull-aside drapes on them. I love sunlight, so I'd likely keep them pulled open most of the time, but the draperies and hardware would give them a finished look. If you want a fun look, simple decals; maybe etching; maybe cording of various lengths to which you've added beads or other jewels ....

I like the uniqueness of the windows. I would highlight them rather then conceal them. Do you want them covered? You could create a cornice above all of them.

U could do it easy by just buying table runners & folding down one end & sewing it in place. That will create a fold to run a short rod thru & hang over each window. :)

If you want to down play them and have extra privacy, i would treat them as if they were one large window, perhaps even using drapes that go to the floor. If you just want to dress them up,I would put a shelf across the front of each one and fill the shelves with colored glass.
