Several companies sell window film and put it on your windows , there are several shades of film pending on the look you want , also Home Depot sells this film for you to do yourselfHelpful Reply -

I needed to block sun from top of my widows in living room from glaring on computes screen. Sprayed water on glass them placed bubble wrap on window. Stil there and working fine. Light comes in no glare.1 marked as helpful Reply -

White poster board. White reflects heat. OR if you want it black, then black poster board.2 marked as helpful Reply -

I made sunscreens from shadecloth for the outside of my windows, I live in Arizona and the summer sun is scorching. This really helps cut the heat down. Coolaroo is the best.1 marked as helpful Reply -

perhaps an awning that is retractable with a remote control ? would be fairly pricey I would think for that size area, and height -- but it would be permanentHelpful Reply- See 1 previous

We live in Arizona and our house has hot sun exposure on the south, east and west. When we first bought the house we had Solar window screens made (bought them at the Home and Garden show for about $600 including install) They have made a big difference in heat transfer thru the window glass. If you have a little skill with making things... you could use the Shade Cloth and make the frames yourself... ours are secured with clips and have held up to most wind storms... we have had only 2 blow off in 6 years.Helpful Reply -

First things first. Tinting the glass is not an ideal solution. The tint gets faded and less effective after few years of the Sun. The main objective is to prevent the Sun heat from heating the glass in the first place. Doing so prevent heat transfer to the inside. Best is to build shades DIY or by professionals. If you have access to materials the pic below are possible. Simple square structure with angled thin wood(or you can reuse/canabalise the existing blinds).Helpful Reply -
