How can I stop no see um bugs from getting through my screens?
We live on the edge of a preserve and the bugs and flying insects are plentiful.
Can you put big pots in front of the screen, or maybe decorative rocks?
A new gardener or perhaps strips of clear plexiglass at the base of the screens about 6" high from the ground.
If there is room between the grass and the lanai edge it with old cut up pallets, scrap wood etc.
First I would have a word or two with the gardener. Then I would consider placing a decorative rock border around the lanai - maybe 6" wide or so.
How about a note saying "You're Fired!" Then point out the damage being done and what it would cost (him) to repair/replace). Then puta row of bricks around the outside of your lanai.
First I personally would bring to his attention because I'm sure he's not the owner, this way he can apologize and fix the problem even if it's just using a small electric hand held trimmer in that area being it's a tight spot to be using a weed wracker and causing damage. I can believe that he didn't see what he had done?? Try this and maybe they can bring a long card board box and use it to block the screen area, and move it along that whole section while they trim📌
You holding a shotgun! Then calmly tell your gardener that if he wrecks your lanai screens again, then he will be replacing them at HIS COST! That phrase about "his cost" and the SHOTGON should get your point accross! (I think he would catch on even without the shotgun!!) Good luck!!
I would talk to the gardener. He/she may not be aware of the damage they are causing.
I bet if you presented the gardner with a bill to repair those screens they would start being more careful. Funny how hitting someone in the pocket book seems to really get their attention.
We have a similar problem with our patio door that has a sliding screen. The delivery people literally drop the boxes and let them roll onto the screen. A piece of plexiglass at the bottom of the door stopped the problem. Since it was multiple delivery drivers, we could not pinpoint it to 1, just deal with the problem.
