How to Make a Scarecrow Face Wreath Out of Dollar Tree Items

I saw this pumpkin wreath frame at Dollar Tree, and I remembered that I had a burlap chili sack. So, I figured I would put the chili sack to good use and make a scarecrow face wreath!

Materials needed:

  • Pumpkin wreath frame
  • Burlap sack
  • Black felt
  • Orange felt
  • Raffia
  • Black twine
  • Fall leaves
  • Fall flower
  • Fall ribbon
  • Fall material
  • Foam board
  • Hot glue
  • Glue gun (not shown)
Cutting the burlap sack

1. Cut the burlap

I cut the burlap sack to fit the pumpkin frame.

2. Attach the burlap

I hot-glued the burlap to the frame. I used small clamps to hold it in place.

3. Glue black twine

I followed the section lines on the frame to hot glue the black twine to reflect the pumpkin sections.

How to make the scarecrow's hat

4. Make the scarecrow's hat

I cut a triangle from foam board, 8 inches wide by 10 inches tall, for the hat. I covered the triangle with black felt.

5. Attach the hat

I used an 18 inches long by 4 inches tall piece of black felt to make the hat's brim. I attached it to the foam board and held it in place with clamps.

I used raffia for the scarecrow's hair.

7. Make the eyes, nose, and mouth

I cut two, 2 1/2 inch ovals from black felt for the eyes. I cut a 2 1/2 inch triangle with orange felt for the nose. I cut an 11-inch piece of black twine to use for the mouth.

8. Sew around the nose

I sewed black lines all around the orange triangle with black thread.

Fall flowers

9. Make the patch and add flowers

I cut a piece of fall fabric 2 inches by 2 inches, for the hat patch, a Fall flower, two leaves, and a piece of ribbon to decorate the hat. I hot-glued everything to the hat.
