Painting an old faded storm door

I want to repaint my steel front door and do not want to remove the ugly faded brown
aluminum storm door. Would I be successful in also painting the old aluminum storm door and how would I prep it?

You would need aluminum primer before painting them but you should be able too

Yes, anything can be painted. Exterior items need careful attention to the proper prepping, priming and paint type selection, but can last forever. Do not skimp on quality, cost or colour selection. Take your time. Remember, a couple times, every day and night this is the first and last thing you and all guests will see coming and going from your home.

Sharon, I also replied to your first question, so I know you mean that you want to paint both your steel entry door and your storm door at the same time. This would not be advisable unless you can remove them and use a temporary entry door or your home would be open to an varmint, animal or otherwise, to walk right in while the doors are open drying.

Yes, you can paint your storm door. Tape off glass, and spray with metal paint. Mine looks great with red paint. My son used a spray paint gun with red primer for metal.

We painted ours with a good quality metal outdoor paint in white. Looks great and has lasted for years.

You don't need anything special. Just prep the surface, use a good primer and paint with exterior latex paint. Nothing else needed.
