What can I do with a wall of built in bookshelves?

Darla on Nov 09, 2015There are so many things you can do with shelves! Use them for dish, picture or other display, files, basket storage for just about anything that will fit, office space, electronics, etc.Helpful Reply

Lauren365 on Nov 09, 2015If you want to keep them, you could install a series of doors at the bottom for closed storage (and less visual clutter). If you're handy, you could do a little deconstruction and cut them in half to either have upper shelves only or lower shelves only. I guess this would depend on your furnishing and storage/display needs. For that matter, you could also leave them floor-to-ceiling in one section but make them less wide. Honestly, the possibilities are endless!Helpful Reply

Barb on Nov 09, 2015Yes, a picture would help a lot. Maybe remove enough shelves for the headboard of a guest bed and let the rest surround the headboard.Helpful Reply

Kincaid99 on Nov 14, 2015If you sew, this would make a great place for sewing room, store all materials in labeled baskets. Crochet items would store there nicely in baskets. The idea of cutting out a section for a headboard is great, also putting on some doors. Paint the shelves and maybe line the back with maps, book pages or French words, etc.Helpful Reply

Dee on Jan 05, 2016If you want to get the most out of the room, how about incorporating a diy murphy bed in the middle. When it folds up you could perhaps have a narrow desk to use for a computer on the other side of the bed?Helpful Reply
