I am having trouble with an ice maker in a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side.

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 21, 2011perhaps the water tap valve is not open enough or shifted slightly causing the water not to come out of valve. Did you loosen the water supply fitting on the fridge to see if water is coming out? That would be the first thing I would check.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 21, 2011Then the water feed line to the trough to hold the water until it freezes could be kinked behind something. What ever it is, its going to be real simple fix. You may need to pull it out again and check where the ice maker fastens to the fridge and where the water line connects. Something is either blocked, or kinked.Helpful Reply

Carolyn H on Dec 22, 2011Hi, We just had the same problem...the water line was clogged...first we installed a new ice maker (look for a new one on EBAY). That did not resolve the issue, so we replaced the water line, and WHOOWHOO! We got ice!!!Helpful Reply

Wes R on Dec 22, 2011Did you replace the line yourself or did you hire someone. Was it hard to do? I wouldn't know where to start with a project like that. Thanks for the help.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 22, 2011Installing a ice maker in a fridge that allows for this option is not very hard to do. Its just a matter of installing a few screws and perhaps a small bracket that is designed to be installed in your particular freezer. Once installed you just need to supply the fridge with a water source so you can make ice! Most of the ice makers have a special plug device that inserts into a outlet somewhere behind a plug of sorts in the freezer. That is all explained in the installation instructions you get with the unit. But overall its not hard to do.Helpful Reply

Carolyn H on Dec 23, 2011The ice maker was easy to install. My husband watched the man who installed the water line, and the panels in the freezer had to come out because there was ice backed up in there...if we had not had those issues, I am sure the water line would have taken a lot less time. We bought our new ice maker on EBAY for $44 something which included shipping. All parts including the water line were included. I am sure that it would have been more expensive if we had had a company do it...we had our wonderful handyman install it for us; and as usual, he did a great job.Helpful Reply
