I need to make a daybed/couch out of an extra long twin mattress my boyfriend and I have in the living room.

Kimberly Barney on Mar 15, 2013I've seen them made with pallets as well as cinder blocks but to have storage underneath, I think you would be better off making it from a bed, dresser or combination of the two. The dresser could be cut down for the drawers underneath the mattress while the bed would provide the decorative sides and back. Don't forget toss pillows!! Since you are on a budget, all of these items can be found at a thrift store, second hand store or if you are lucky the dresser and bed may be found free on Craigslist.Helpful Reply

Rich on Mar 24, 2013Kimberly Barney has a great idea. You can also take 3 small dressers, cut them down and add a piece of 1/2" plywood for the base. The dressers can be cut so that the tops can be used for arms. Look along the streets or roads for discards too.Helpful Reply

Rich on Mar 24, 2013Since you have an extra long twin mattress, look for the long dressers, and cut them down. You may need 4 and screw them together.Helpful Reply
