Best way to add Christmas lights to wood structure
-
SLS Construction & Building Solutions LLC on Mar 17, 2013Uh what type of structure... got pictures, what type of wood, any roofing or other items? In most cases if I am attaching something to wood I will use galvanized or stainless hooks or hangers that can be left up even when the lights come down. In some cases attaching to the wood is not advisable & we will use temporary gutter hooks or even hang off the decorative gutter hangersHelpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Mar 18, 2013I would steer clear of holiday type light fixtures. Bulbs do not last long, do not weather well and can burst when they get hot and water hits them. Try using rope lights. They can be had in all sorts of sizes, colors and the higher quality ones can be dimmed if need be. The best thing is that they are encased in a clear vinyl tube that protects them from damage and can be safely used around pools and water as long as a GFI breaker or outlet is used. http://www.1000bulbs.com/category/rope-light/?gclid=CJb7y-_HhbYCFYqf4AodZkQA0gHelpful Reply

Diana Prater on Mar 18, 2013What type of lights are you using? If it's like a pergola you can simply wrap the lights around for a glowing look. Also, if they are for permanent use, you can add small adhesive clips. These can be moved, but also have a clean look to them as well. Christmas Lights Etc has a wide selection of clips and they are crazy inexpensive. They can also give you lighting ideas for the wood structure. Good luck!!Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Mar 18, 2013Years ago I set up some safety netting along the bottom edge of our deck when my girls were really little. I used these http://www.myknobs.com/ri75708171.html?utm_medium=feed&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=myknobs&gclid=CILZxf3DhrYCFaI7MgodrlsA7w as far as lights go, I would recommend some LED ones The regular incandescent will not last. WE have had these burning 24 / 7 now for a few years http://kmswoodworks.wordpress.com/2010/01/24/christmas-lights-where/Helpful Reply
