Why is hometalk better than facebook & twitter
MY answer: Hometalk has very creative people, vendors that know what they are doing & and care enough to help people like me.
On Hometalk it is NOT I, me,my.
Hometalk It is a wonderful place to ask a question and get help. Many sites ridicule people that ask dumb questions - I have never seen that on hometalk. Some of us ask stupid questions and get a decent answer (undeserved but nice).
Who disagrees? I bet NONE OF YOU.

3po3 on Dec 31, 2011I agree completely, especially on the last point. I keep waiting with dread for "forum rage," where people pile ridicule on a question or answer. Haven't seen it yet, and happily so.Helpful Reply

Paul M on Jan 01, 2012What is there to disagree with? Now to continue with what you have said Sherrie, if Hometalk was not that way then what would be the point of any of us even being here? Is that not the very reason that this site exists and people maintain their membership here?Helpful Reply

Yamini LEED AP at Urbanmotifs on Jan 01, 2012Hometalk is a great place, I use it as a tool, I learn, and I inspire people. But I cannot live without Facebook since I use it to bring me a fresh flow of posts from various companies, industries and people related to my work. We are lucky to be living in this era where the world is in our finger tips. I think they are all essential to me. I am not much of a Twitter person and I don't think it benefits me or my business at this stage of my career.Helpful Reply

360 Sod (Donna Dixson) on Jan 01, 2012This is a great platform for both the DIY folks and the pros. I have both learned and have been able to share my knowledge. People here are very gracious and thoughtful with their posts. I really have enjoyed the interaction between everyone. thank you HometalkHelpful Reply

Miriam Illions on Jan 01, 2012I wholeheartedly agree but of course I'm biased :) Contrary to sites like Facebook and Twitter (not arguing their value at all!) which are built off connections, Hometalk is built off sharing information; questions, answers, discussions, pictures, etc. The sharing of this information is what establishes valuable connections to people/professionals. Each person's experience, or lack of experience for that matter, is significant on Hometalk because it is all about information. Every Hometalk contributor who shares their experience, questions or answers on the site is impacting countless others because they shared. There is also a lot of respect for every type of contributor which speaks for the nature of our members :)Helpful Reply

Kimberly A on Jan 01, 2012I am new to Hometalk and I am all ready in love with this site. I have found lots of good ideas on helping my husband and I on our remodeling of our home. Hometalk is a site for those of us that DIY and need help in our projects. You can not found that on Facebook or ask questions about such things without getting someone that is acting like a jerk.Helpful Reply

EXOVATIONS on Jan 03, 2012As an exterior remodeling company, we have noticed that we do not receive a lot of interaction from our customers, employees, or even just people who follow or friend us. If we post photo galleries on Home Talk, we have 90% more interaction with the users and we aren't trying to sell anyone on here but it is good to hear feedback on projects we have completed and to be able to help others with simple questions or reliable answers to problems they have. We are SO thankful for this site!! :) Candice, ExovationsHelpful Reply
