Janet Pizaro on Jan 11, 2016You did not specify the size of the closet, however perhaps you can purchase a closet organization system from Home Depot. If that does not work for you then you can use baskets, shoe boxes, special hangers for belts, scarfs, pants etc.Helpful Reply

Elizabeth on Jan 11, 2016How big is your closet? We had an older house and had a very small closet, about the width of the closet door. Our room was a good size so we built out from that wall the full width of the room and built out about 36 inches. We then removed the original door and used that space for out of season clothes. Left side of the new space was used for my husband, right side for me and the middle, we placed his tall dresser with shelves on top of that, all the way to the ceiling. The shelves held a TV and stereo system. The doors were made of frosted glass and mirrors. Worked very well for us and the new owners loved it!Helpful Reply

Debi53 on Jan 11, 2016In order to get any real help, please include a picture and the size of your closet. Also, if you could be more specific as to what you want the closet to do, people could give more detailed help.Helpful Reply

LD on Jan 12, 2016The best source I have found and use in all my closets is the Elfa closet systems/components, which can be purchased from "The Container Store", and they are 50% off right now. If you don't have one located near you, they can be purchased on line as well. They have designers that will help you to design your closets based on your needs and this service is free. The Elfa closet system and components are heavy duty and come in different finishes. Here is a link to their website http://www.containerstore.com/welcome.htm?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Search&utm_campaign=TM|Brand|Exact|Desktop&gclid=Cj0KEQiA5dK0BRCr49qDzILe74UBEiQA_6gA-ig0a0k_vgtJmC0idRVJc4LxSZPZUoRJ6GGtXEk_KAAaAnSd8P8HAQHelpful Reply

Diana Deiley on Jan 12, 2016Not having a picture to go by, I would change the design by adding a second pole for added storage. Blouses on the top, folded slacks on the bottom. OR "his" on the top, "hers" on the bottom. Best of luck. p.s. I suggest painting the inside a bright white first.Helpful Reply

MN Mom on Jan 13, 2016Mary you could start by pairing down what you really need to keep in the closet. Think about raising a hanging rod as lots of wasted space is up high where shelved usually are. Add a second rod below the first so you can each hang items. Investing in a decent closet organization system doesn't need to break the bank. If you bring your closet dimensions and a photo to a place like The Container Store or Home Depot, someone on their staff should be able to help you choose the right pieces to make best use of your space. I'd take out anything that you can possibly store elsewhere...dresser drawers, under bed storage, other closets in the home. You'll be surprised at how many things you may not even need and can donate!Helpful Reply
