Dan's of Central Florida, Inc. on Jan 27, 2012Kelly, they make cabinet spacers just for purposes like this. However, with the roughly 12 inches of space you have, you can either split the spacer difference (6 inches to either side) or perhaps you have the room to add in a small section of cabinet space there.Helpful Reply

KELLY M on Jan 27, 2012I thought about putting a 12" base cabinet in, but not sure how the wall cabinet will look and I am trying to think about resale value when making these decisions. I want it to look good and match the cabinets that are there now. What do you think? Have any suggestions for the upper cabinets?Helpful Reply

Faidra at CA Global Inc on Jan 27, 2012Kelly that would work perfectly, as I did the same, but you can get a nce 36' range if you go to a sears outlet for the price of a brand new standard range. there is nothing wrong with them except maybe a ding on it where you cant even see it, they just cant sale as new because of damageHelpful Reply

Yamini LEED AP at Urbanmotifs on Jan 29, 2012Kelly you have roughly about 6 inches to play with and not much. I would take Faidra advice and work out a slide in/out rack to store stuff needed for the oven below. On the other hand as a potential future buyer the 42" range attracts me compared to the standard range. So consider the 42 inch ts and instead of standardizing the kitchen, shop online and at outlets, you never know there might be just one waiting for you.Helpful Reply

Susan Bechamp on Oct 22, 2015For the upper cabinet space not occupied by the range hood, consider false corbels that bracket each side. Look at architectural salvage for ideas. If that doesn't appeal to you, maybe spice racks or utensil hooks on the existing cabinets. Oh, for the base cabinet, Faidra's advise makes a lot of sense. My own kitchen lacks a cabinet suitable for tray storage. All my cookie sheets, cooling racks and large turkey platters are stored in another room.Helpful Reply
