Cyndi Moore Tippett on Apr 25, 2013I have not been very lucky with seed when trying to replace grass after a project. My husband dug a trench the length of our yard to put down drain pipe because of water problems and the only way I found to fix the "no grass" issue was to put down sod. I found it to be be cheaper than seed and it was instant grass. I got sod at the local nursery and we have a sod farm not to far from us. If your local nursery has sod they should be able to get you in touch with their supplier. Just make sure you keep it watered every couple of days for a couple of weeks.Helpful Reply

SLS Construction & Building Solutions LLC on Apr 25, 2013I will let @Building Moxie answer about the grass seed, but no matter the type you use, the ground needs to be aerated & fertilized. Make sure you keep the seed watered properly, the soil is correct (PH, etc...) & you should be good. As for thicker, I always aerate at least every other year, leave the clippings from mowing & add some mulch once a year to help replace nutrients.Helpful Reply

Building Moxie on Apr 26, 2013Great advice @SLS Construction Solutions and I will say I am somewhat biased to Pennington. I feel a mulch-type product would be perfect for the construction related patches you need to make on the right (no soil prep or fertilization required). On establishing - just keep these products moist, which depending on where you live will amount to watering once a day or once every other day. on the left you are looking at overseeding which as SLS said amounts to aerating, picking the right grass seed and type (a high traffic type might be appropriate here) and watering. moist at first but later going for a somewhat regular saturation of the root system. You visit my site for more info on Pennington and growing grass. Good luck and a good looking walk by the way.Helpful Reply
