Douglas Hunt on May 31, 2013Chunky mulch may provide places for slugs to hide, but finely ground mulch eliminates much of that concern. Despite how much you may like the appearance, please do not use cypress mulch. Unlike pine bark mulch or other hardwood mulch, for example, which is a byproduct of lumbering, whole stands of cypress trees are clearcut to make cypress mulch, destroying wildlife habitat in the process. The trees are rarely replanted.Helpful Reply
