Small weeping willow tree removal

Have a small weeping willow tree that litters the area with branches. quick way to remove the entire tree. Diameter of tree trunk less than 5 inches. Advice.

I think getting out all the roots of a willow of that size will be a challenge. I think your best bet is to cut it down as close to the ground and then paint the stump with a brush killer herbicide.
