Lara Kulpa on Jun 06, 2016Do you need to use the closet, or can you move the bed head into it, and then get a small armoire to hang clothes? Lots of people have WAY bigger closets than they truly need. Consider downsizing your clothes to just what fits in the chest and maybe an armoire, then put the head of the bed in the closet.Helpful Reply

Sam Phillips Beckerman on Jun 06, 2016Do not give up the light. Use some of that plastic coating that makes it like a frosted window, then use regular or sheer curtains. You will probably have room at foot of the bed for a storage chest/bench. You don't want to use blackout curtains, or large furniture in front of window or it will feel like a closet.Helpful Reply

Rita on Jun 06, 2016Use a very light paint to help reflect light. Instead of a head board, why not use some pretty vintage shutters! You can cover the window with them... Look for some that are bigger than your window so that at night you have the illusion of more Windows. Then during the day, open the shutters to let the light in! They will still give you privacy if you adjust them correctly!Helpful Reply

Cheryl Markus Reynolds on Jun 06, 2016@I was thinking the same thing as Rita. However, if opening and closing the shutters is an issue with space, they can be hung like barn doors and slid open and shut. You can also put a tension rod in the window track with sheer curtains to let in air and light but prevent people from looking in.Helpful Reply

Susan on Jun 06, 2016Please consider that it wouldn't be safe to obstruct the window with a piece of heavy furniture or something I couldn't move alone. You don't want to be trapped if there is a fire.Helpful Reply

Honey Henderson on Jun 06, 2016I think my bedroom is similar to yours. I do have the white wooden shutters on my window and I really like them, I am also thinking about the rod with sheer curtains to add some femininity and flare. My bed is underneath the large window with no headboard. I am thinking of sliding doors for the closet to make more room, possibly a pocket door from the bedroom to the bathroom. There is plenty of room for the end table beside the bed. I have just purchased a large mirrored dresser, and am not sure were it's final resting place will be. However with smaller bedrooms I should gone for a taller as opposed to a wider dresser. Kijiji is great for this purpose.Helpful Reply

Pat Ruge on Jun 07, 2016Think small when it comes to furniture. Reorganize your closet and perhaps eliminate the dresser or put the dresser in the closet. Bed against the wall with no windows or door - start there. Sounds like you might be in apartment w/traffic near window, if so, by all means cover with drapes. Small night tables or a shelf you can hang on the wall, might help. A hanging lamp above shelf might help to maximize the small table/shelf.Helpful Reply
