Canopy bed with ceiling fan??

You may have to rethink your design plan and go with a half canopy to accommodate the placement of the ceiling fan.

I would only take the canopy part way (3/4 )to the end of the bed .. Sort of like a awning. If you type in canopy bed above in search or pinterest you will get many ideas. Good luck

The idea of canopy 3/4 of way to end of bed when fan on...then roll it down full way when not in use. I have identical problem but I gave up on canopy and it is open during hot months, then I put canopy on when cooler weather sets in.

I have the same problem but I solved it by having a ceiling hugger fan installed. Now I have about 3" of clearance and I'm a happy camper.

My bedroom is like that too. First of all, if the fan is in the middle and not above any of the corners of your bed you are in luck because it can be done. Assuming that everything is clear of the fan you need to extend your corners. The corners will be the only solid part of the canopy. Then you need a little white clothes line, tie one end to the top of a corner See where your ceiling fan is then let the middle droop so it is below the fan. Then secure it to the next corner and do the same until you are all the way around, It should droop equally from post to post. Now you have a flexible frame to use with your fabric that can accommodate your ceiling fan. You can drape it however you want. I would use the stiffer white clothes line with the wire running through it just to give it a little more body.

How would having a ceiling fan even be practical with a canopy bed? I have a canopy type bed and love the way it looks without. I have a large ceiling fan that whirls above without touching the posts. I think my bed is typically called a 'rice bed' because of the carvings.

rather than a canopy, how about four tall posts framed together at the top as well and swag drapes or gauzy fabric down the sides leaving the top open ...
