The plant in the center looks like a torinia; great little flowers.......come in a variety of colors. I have deep purple & white, hot pink and white, yellow & lavendar, blue.. I live in Florida; they usually reseed themselves. Don't know about other areas. They are also called wishbone flowers or clownfaces...

The plant on the end looks like "Blue Daze" Evolvulus; usually in hanging baskets.
  • the first plant looks like Purslane. It is extremely invasive. It is edible and high in many nutrients making it a healthy plant to eat, but if you cook it it has a slimy texture like okra. If you want to get rid if it, use vinegar or roundup on it before you pull it out as the smallest amount of root left will regrow. If you put on rubber gloves and put cotton gloves over them you can dip your hands into the roundup and wipe it on the plants you want to remove without affecting other plants around the offending ones.

Take a picture of the flowers for us. Plants are identified mostly by the flower not the leaves so it would really help to see the floweropen and up close.

The first plant is a Dew plant. I have one in a pot that actually Wintered last year. It has red straw like flowers like the ice plant.
  • Tracey T Tracey T on Jul 10, 2013
Linda is right about the first one being a dew plant. It makes a pretty and full hanging basket as well!

Your welcome, Melissa. The only problem I have with it is that the birds like it as much as I do! I've never planted it in the ground...only in pots. Like Tracey T mentioned it makes a beautiful hanging pot.
