Sharon Twichell on Jul 13, 2016With the radiator being where it is, I would go with nice Roman shades or blinds of some sort. That way the material is not going to touch the radiator and you can still get a stylish look. I like Roman shades better than blinds, personally. You can usually get a good price if you look on line. I would like to see however you decide to finish.Helpful Reply

Tauni on Jul 13, 2016If this were my house ... I would hang roman shades in each window with a fabric wrapped wood valance or just a fabric over the top of the window ... (a wood valance would help with stay the style of the home) ...simply get rid of the curtains ... make sure your molding around your windows are in good shape with a little paint as a refresher if needed ... no curtains will also help your room look bigger :) you could also use a set of nice blinds instead of fabric roman shades. You might also look at inside working shutters.Helpful Reply

Mary Overmyer on Jul 13, 2016The big radiator in my house was between two windows in my dining room. A prior own build a wooden structure around it. It was nicely stained and was vented with brass panels similar in shape to small lattice. We have since put in central heat and air and not longer have it so I can't send a pic. I used binds and valances on the windows with decorator rods.Helpful Reply

Cindi on Jul 13, 2016I saw a show once where they built a hall table type thing around one of those radiators, with a decorative metal grating. It looked so nice, and seemed fairly easy to do. I think it was an HGTV thing, but you can probably find something like that on Pinterest, or ask you hardware store how to build one.Helpful Reply

Lindy on Jul 20, 2016I noticed that you wanted the bottom covered due to the proximity of a road in front of your house. I have seen shades/blinds that pull UP rather than the tradidional down pull. That might work or as another idea how about shutters that are split in the center-kind of on the idea of a Dutch door-bottom can be closed while the top remains open. A fabric valance at the top of the windows with side panels only if you must do a curtain.Helpful Reply
