Rochelle Williams on Jul 13, 2016You probably have gnats. You said this happens in the rainy season. Check the area they are gathering for rot. Gnats like damp and rot. You could have a small roof leak in that area that is only active during heavy rains. You can google gnat traps, they are a lot of homemade options that do not use pesticides. This link will give you some basic information on gnats and fruit flies.. http://www.organiclesson.com/6-ways-to-instantly-get-rid-of-gnats-at-home/ Good luck with the annoying little monsters,Helpful Reply

Cheryl on Jul 13, 2016Sounds like a type of gnat. If you have houseplants, they come from them. IYou can put a 1 inch layer of sand on top of the soil. It will suffocate the ones in there and act as a barrier to keep others out. In addition, you can put small dishes of cider vinegar with a drop of dawn in it. Put them around the house. They are attracted to the vinegar and drawn. I put these on windowsills and under my under kitchen cabinet light and leave the light on all night. The light from the windows and under cabinets will attract them.Helpful Reply

Gail on Jul 13, 2016Could be drain flies. we get them this time of year. We use a mason jar with some apple cider vinegar and a piece of fruit in it. cover oplastic wrap and than poke some holes in it( small ho les). it may take a day or two,but the gnats will be attracked to the fruit will crawl into the jar through the holes. the vinegar will kill them and they won't be able get out. you could try it . does work for me. good luckHelpful Reply

LouLaBelle on Jul 13, 2016Have to agree. Sounds like a gnat or fruit flies to me. I had a flea problem one very wet spring and got rid of them with 20 Mule Team Borax sprinkled on all my carpets, left for two days, then swept them up. I ran the sweeper two times to remove all the borax, and have not had any trouble since. With two large Boxer dogs in the house I keep a good eye on the situation as we have a small grandchild crawling around all the time.Helpful Reply

Cheryl on Jul 13, 2016There is a natural insect spray called Eco Smart that is non-toxic. I spray my screens and doorways with it. It can be purchased at Meijer, home Depot, etc.Helpful Reply

Bernadette Staal on Jul 13, 2016are you sure they are fleas and not sand-flies or mosquito's - you should find plenty of solutions on Google. Fleas are usually attracted to animals not lights.Helpful Reply

Debbie Miller on Jul 14, 2016I have dogs so I never use chemicals ! I mix salt and soda in a shaker and put it on all my floors two to three times from spring through fall. I also sprinkle pure soda in any boxes I have in storage, etc. , dog beds and in my laundry hampers and also around the exterior perimeters of my house. It will sometimes get moist on hardwood or linoleum but don't freak out...it will dry up and then you can mop. I leave it on my floors for at least 2-3 days and sometimes leave it in the corners and around doors. I do not have carpet but it can be put on carpet and vacumned in 24 hrs. (may have to repeat a second time). I also keep a bottle with a mixture of water, vinegar and a little salt for a dog rinse. Fleas dry up and die! I have 10 Chihuahuas and NO FLEAS! Planting lemon grass and rosemary around your home also helps.Helpful Reply

Jennifer Thompson Marciniak on Jul 15, 2016I have used borax to get rid of fleas that we could not get rid of using products that were supposed to kill fleas. Sprinkle borax on floors and rugs and work into the floor crevasses and rugs by bushing the borax powder in with a broom. We also put it under sofa cushions. Remove excess Borax but leave worked-in borax. This method will take a couple of weeks to work but it works. It is important to remove excess borax because it is toxic and not good for pets and young children who are on the floor all the time. I have also used this to get rid of ants in the house. The trick is not to have too much on the floor and to WAIT it out. We have dogs and they were fine after the treatment. Fleas do lay eggs and the eggs can sit dormant in the rugs and cracks between floor boards for a long time. Lights attract fleas and some methods involve using lights and sticky paper to catch fleas.Helpful Reply

Julie McDonald on Jul 16, 2016I Had used Borax also with great success. I bought several boxes and covered all the carpets with a heavy layer and let it stay on the carpet for a full day. then I vacuumed. it is inexpensive to use and is pet friendly. Most bugs breath through their body, so by covering them in something kills them. Definitely try this much better than a chemical bomb.Helpful Reply
