Geraniums

When I first planted my geraniums in the window boxes, they flourished and were beautiful.we have had a stretch of three weeks with really high temperatures and no reason.I did my best to keep them watered, but now they are very spindly and sad looking. I was thinking of liquid fertilizer, but would appreciate any additional input.

I don't think fertilizer is usually what stressed plants need. I would trim them back and make sure they do not dry out again.

hmm...well Geraniums stop blooming when temps go past 90. With the information that you have them in full sun, I am in total agreement with @Douglas Hunt , that the best course of action is to cut them back and let them recover. Once you cut them, pay close attention to the water issue. It is really easy to allow plants to dry in containers. The window boxes are especially a challenge because you are getting a lot of reflective heat as well from the surface wall they are attached to. If the heat continues I would move them to an afternoon shade location if at all possible.

There's hardly anything you can do about that, Cathy, but, as you have now learned from experience, window boxes do dry out quickly.
