I would like to make a granny pod out of a steel shed. How do I make the flooring. How do I insulate it, add a bathroom?

I'm sorry I can't help but I absolutely LOVE your idea (I'm a "granny" too). Best of luck to you!

I am building one out of a stick built backyard shed. It is a work in progress, but here is what I have learned: Advantech for the sub-floor is a must. It costs just a little more, but is super resistant to water and rot. Spray foam insulation or use the 4 x 8 sheets of solid foam insulation in between the rafters. Regular batting style insulation is great in the walls. I chose paneling for the walls instead of drywall for easy cleaning(I used a nice pine beadboard style painted off white) I also used it directly on the rafters for the ceiling or a vaulted ceiling, making my space seem so much bigger!! I built a set of full size bunk beds into the wall, so I have space for grandkids or guests to stay over. I hope this helps you!! I just happened on this page and I don't know for sure how to get back to it. If I do, I'll post more of my progress :) Good luck.....oh yeah...watch "Tiny House Nation" and "Tiny House, Big Living"

It's a "mother -in-law's cabin" I wish to make on my daughter's land when I retire. I had read about some being made from steel sheds that are customised for this. Thx for inquiring, send ideas, please!

if the shed is floorless now, you could lay patio blocks and cover with the interlocking rubber mats, that's what I put in the she-shed I built for my wife, it had a concrete floor. I used 2" styrofoam panels for the insulation, hire a plumber for the bathroom it's not something a novice should attempt, check for building permits. My wife is still decorating the inside, it will be our go to the movies getaway. lol
