Neutral colors that go well with my floors

Charl on Nov 07, 2016Go with a greige color. It's a gray beige color...hence the name. I used Grecian Ivory by Sherwin Williams...absolutely love it...goes with EVERYTHING!!Helpful Reply

Thr8342114 on Nov 07, 2016Your floors loook somewhat darker in your pictures than the sample floor picture. You should try to get a wall color that has the same depth of color as your floor then you will have a much more warm and cohesive feel in your rooms. As I see it the walls are too light in tone and it gives you a rather cold blah feeling. You don't need to use dark colors just more saturated colors and you will like the results much more.Helpful Reply

Lynn on Nov 07, 2016About 10 years ago we did a renovation and a addition we painted our walls a grey color and I never ever got tired of it, in fact when I had it repainted I went with the same color. Goes with everything, we have hickory hardwood floors and it looks great with them. Happy painting. 😊Helpful Reply

Charl on Nov 08, 2016Considering you have tons of light, I would go with a darker greige color. It's the kind of color you won't get tired of and goes well with oak.Helpful Reply

Kms1812677 on Nov 09, 2016I have oak floors all through my house too and painted some rooms a creamy beige and others a bright white. I was surprised how well the bright white went with the oak floors but it looks so light and airy.Helpful Reply

Tommi L. Perkins on Nov 09, 2016If the area is really full of light you should use something darker than a bright white. With all of the bright light you will have to wear sun glasses to be able to stay in the room. Remember also that there are about 500 colors of white. Sherwin Williams has a fan of white colors. Go get one and choose from that. White or any light color will paint on lighter than the chip shows, except for yellow. Yellow will be much more yellow when you put it on the wall. Be careful about that. Get samples of your possible choices. Most of the paint stores will mix you up a pint of the color to sample on the wall. Try going to some open houses for sale and see what other people are doing.Helpful Reply

Janny Mallard on Nov 10, 2016Go to fabric or upholstery store! Seriously. Look for print fabrics that contain SOME of the color of your floors. Find prints you like and consider the other colors in the prints. Take swatch to paint store and find color samples that match colors in the fabric that you like. Take the paint samples home, toss on floor and leave them all there for a while, removing the ones you like less & less. Pay attention to how the color samples look at different times of day, and under light in the evening. Takes time, but paint is getting pricey and you are less likely to make a mistake if you take time really seeing the colors in your home.Helpful Reply

Mary on Nov 11, 2016If you get a selection of grey paint chips from the paint store, you will find that there is quite a bit of grey in your floors which is a transition color to many other accent colors. A soft grey wall color for instance, can be paired with just about any color including white of course. Soft grey walls will make your floors appear more contemporary as well. It is an versatile, upscale look. Have fun!Helpful Reply
