How can I DIY a cat tree?

Can anyone help me with a DIY cat tree? I tried cardboard boxes, too flimsy for my big girl. I live in a small 1-bdrm apartment so I am limited for space. I don't have any power tools. Can't nail things to the walls either. HELP!

That's exactly what I want to know -Didn't mean to butt in but my two girls are indoor cats and putting on weight - Thought that would be an excellent way get them from eating and sleeping all day before they're too heavy to climb up a tree house.. I've priced those tree houses and they are pretty expensive-- There must be a way to DIY for this project.. Hope You Get Some Answers -Home Talk always came through for me...Good Luck, Helen

I made my two cats bunk beds from two drawers. You can make something similar just stagger the drawers instead of one on top of the other. You can also wrap the drawers with rope for the kitty to us as a scratching post. As you can see in the picture our "white kitty" claimed the bottom bunk as our grey kitty looks from the hallway. Lol

I still need to paint the beds. I may put a cute stencil on the front. I'm also going to wrap the side pieces with rope.

get some PVC pipe have them cut it in the lenghts you want, get the Tees and Elbows then fit it together, wrap some of it in rope, carpet scraps on some, then place heavy material across some pieces for a hammock and boards across others padded and covered for relaxing you can make it any size and height you want, caps on the bottom so as not to mark the floors

this will give you some idea what i was trying to say,

this one has the list of material and all you need. just have them cut the pipe were you buy it.

Hi Bella, it's Helen again - didn't resolve my cat tree need - So I started to think "outside the box" knowing your limitations as you mentioned. A medium size steady ladder(not too high)- 4 or 5 boxes (not large) but with height gradually increasing for your big girl to climb up to the steps and then try somehow to make a broader area on the top of ladder with a nice cozy blanket that she prefers- I think if you place the ladder against a wall it maybe easier to somehow broaden that top area & when she wants to get down she doesn't have to jump and break the box - just climb onto the top box and steps down each one to the floor - We Hope! So It Goes!
