Trent-Tonya Sharp on Nov 19, 2013We use our tin buckets and fill it with rocks but we put center blocks in first with the stand legs through the holes of center blocks. If you like the rustic look tin is the way to go if not paint it. Hope this helps some good luckHelpful Reply

Angela on Nov 19, 2013We do the same as @Trent-Tonya Sharp. We set heavy rocks on the base and I create a "tree skirt" out of the rocks!!Helpful Reply

Bev Carstensen on Nov 20, 2013I would get a tree stake (2 in by 6 or 8 ft long) from the Nursery and drive it into the ground, place your tree stock next to it and wire it.. use it all the time.. stays up in all weather!Helpful Reply

Patricia W on Nov 20, 2013I agree with Bev. Nobody ever said tree stakes are for real trees only! Plus you can reuse the stake for other garden needs.Helpful Reply

Phyllis Delesandro on Nov 21, 2013I have done this many times by pounding a piece of galvanized pipe which has an inside diameter a bit larger than the tree's "spine" into the ground. About 2 feet into the ground leaving a foot ( This gives you a foot between the bottom of the tree and the ground) above usually works well for me. Then just stick the tree into the pipe and Viloa instant tree!Helpful Reply

Jody on Nov 21, 2013I do the same as Phyllis with my bird feeders. I make some for my flower beds and put an ols vase upside down on feeder and then you have a place to put the rod in and easy to clean.Helpful Reply

Kim 'Kiewatt' Waknitz on Nov 21, 2013We use sandbags to hold tree in place and cover those with burlap tucked around to cover them. The burlap makes rustic tree skirt.Helpful Reply
