If you have power in your cabin, you may want to consider some type of monitoring device that either notifies the police or yourself when a break-in is occurring. The system can also have the capability of capturing video evidence to aid in the apprehension of the culprits. You can find a system quite affordably by starting here: https://secure.tmart.com/search.html?page=2&q=security%2Bsystem%2Bwireless&referer_site=G_WWW_TMART_COM_DOMAIN
Good luck!
A welder friend of mine had the same problem. He made decorative exterior window grates from 1/2 square steel. He mounted them them by adding 4 round pipes to the grate 90 degrees to the grate, drilled holes into the window frames, slid the pipes through and put a steel plate inside. He drilled holes in the pipe for large pins so the grate could not be pulled out and in case of fire, he could pull the pins and push the grate out to escape. Inside the plates and pins were covered with curtains and drapes. There are cameras at Bass Pro that is motion activated. Usually used for locating deer etc. It takes great pics and the animals don't even know it.
If this is not your main residence I would remove any valuables. Use the motion activated camera. And if they are breaking in thru doors or windows. I would leave unlocked. Write note and leave on table or counter. Premises are under hidden surveillance. Any damage will be reported to the authorities. Now Please Smile for the camera. Of course I would make periodic checks on the cabin . You may get some great pictures of the local wildlife. These checks should be sporadic and in advertised.
autocorrect writes what it wants should be not advertised.
Add a lockinggate to the front entrance, if possible - at least they couldn't get a card down your driveway or on your property.
Thank you for the information. I am ready to try to put a stop to it,
Put a note on the door that says "Jake, be bake in a jiffy just went to the gun store"
thank you for responding. good idea.
also had a sign in the front yard or on the front of the house. secured and protected by smith and Wesson. That might deter them. Buy a gun and learn how to use it. It may not be the same people that keep breaking in. Look at the front of your house and see if it looks empty. If someone thinks it's vacant, they may need a bathroom or food and break in. If it's the same people, (you will find that out after you install the motion cameras out front of the house, and mount one on a tree that is about 25-30 feet away in case they try to stop the cameras from working. you need to find out who's breaking in so you can stop them or have the police stop them.
No, they bust open the door and steal everything they can and had packed up the rest to come back for. thank you for your help.
