honey suckle?
Some sort of day lily
THAT LOOKS LIKE HUMMINGBIRD VINE (CAMPSIS RADICANS) TO ME. BUT IT'S A LITTLE HARD TO IDENTIFY BY LOOKING AT A PLANT FROM "UNDER" IT'S FLOWER.
Might be honey suckle..but I've only seen it in white. If it IS honey suckle it should also smell BEAUTIFUL.
I think it's an Aeschynanthus or Lipstick Plant xxx
It appears to be a hummingbird trumpet vine.
I think it is red trumpet honeysuckle
I just ordered the seeds for the exact plant. It is called Gloriosa Superba and it is a vine. You can look it up on the internet or order the seeds from Seeds N Such
Looks like a Lipstick plant
It is a goldfish plant. Just google that and you will get lots of advice on how to look after it, they are easy to care for :)
After reading and comparing the two most likely flowers aeschynanthus or Goldfish plant...I think it is the aeschynanthus because of the plants habit of grouping the flowers as opposed the the single flowers of the Goldfish plant. Also look at the leaves, they are more pointed on the aeschynanthus and rounder on the goldfish plant. See the photos attached. I found this online http://www.plantsrescue.com/tag/aeschynanthus-speciosus/
It is definitely aaeschynanthus plant, beautiful and easy to care for..
Thanks, for the info, Carole. I hope it will do okay in a window with southern exposure until summer. Does it have a common name do you know?
Thank s for all your hard work, everyone. I just didn't know where to start looking for the info. Now I'll see if I can nurse it through the winter inside. It's a new plant for me.
I have a plant with flowers just like this, but the flowers are single, not in clusters. My sister-in-law has a very old plant she grows as a house plant, and gave me cuttings off that. She did not know it's name either! My plant does drip sticky sap a bit, so be careful where you place it.
Lots to Google...tropical for sure...
Check out Lipstick plant or Columnea sp. It is a gesneriad
Thanks so much. I'm looking forward to trying to grow this. It's a new plant for me.
Thanks, Linda!
Download an app called "garden", then take a picture and it will identify whatever plant you need info on.
When I lived in Zimbabwe, these were called flame lilies.
I was told by a florist that these are Asiatic Lillies.
Thanks for the help, but after all the replies and pictures we know it is a lipstick plant.
download from play store on android "Plan@net " take photo submit then you will receive answer.
Thanks for the information--I'll move it to a sunnier window.
COULD BE A TRUMPET LILLY MAYBE?
Goldfish plant
