I'd like to put vinyl tile or sheet vinyl over the ceramic.
Any all purose adhesive will work. Locktite, Gorilla glue, Liquid Nails, etc But with the constant movement of the door it may not hold for long. I advise getting a creamic tile drill bit and drilling a hole through the tile using the guide as a template. Then you could even use a longer screw for strength.

do not use a hammer drill , on the drill , it will break all the tile , just drill it ,use a glass drill bit first .
IF YOU HAVE AN ANGLE GRINDER OR SANDER. USE W/D SANDPAPER OR DISC. TAKE THE GLOSS OFF.OR AN ETCHING PRODUCT?
YOUR WELCOME. IS THERE CEMENT UNDER THE CARPET ALSO? MAYBE CUT THE WOOD LONGER TO EXTEND OVER TO WHERE IT CAN BE SCREWED ONTO SOMETHING LIKE THE WALL. MAYBE A BRACKET OF SOME TYPE OR GRIND UNDER THE WALL A BIT TO STREGTHEN IT. PLAY WITH IT. LOTS OF OPTIONS.
I'd use Gorilla Glue, the gel version. It's strong and has worked for me in many cases. You may want to use it along with a short screw to attach the door guide. With my luck I'm sure that I would not be trying to drill in your case. Good Luck!
Use a good 2 part epoxy. You'll find it near the gorilla glue. It should say on the package if its suitable for tile.
Thank you, I am going shopping tomorrow so I will check on it.
drill a hole through the wall side of the guides upright and screw the guide to the baseblard.
Thank you Tpink. That is close to what I decided to do but with L brackets screwed into the bottom of the board and into the baseboard/stud of the wall. That should be sturdy enough.
