I have a glass top table that I'm going to top with pallet wood and chalk paint the lower part.
I had a glass top table and got tired of the glass needing to be cleaned every day. I stippled glass etching paint onto the underside of the glass. It made a huge difference. Try that with some spray paint on the base. It would still be a table, but updated.
Using chalk paint on furniture will give it a whole new life without all the sanding and extra prep. I love chalk paint for giving wood furniture a new life ;-)
Is there some place on line that I can find directions/suggestions about chalk paint = application, etc I have an old stereo cabinet that we have had for years and listened to lots of good music on it and especially CHRISTmas Music while decorating the tree in our living room and then while CHRISTmas activities happened in that room. That was years ago when kids and grandkids were younger....and Granny was younger. LOL I use it as "piece of furniture' [catch all sometimes :3] Love the design of it,etc. Thanks for any suggestions. < Sue
cut a circle in the bottom big enough to take a piece of 8,10 inch (the diameter of pipe will actually be dictated by the lights circumference) pvc pipe cut to a highth to conceal a rotating muti-lens/multi-color x-mas spotlight, have or due it yourself designs you like glass beaded or sand blasted into the glass, stars, moons, animals etc.,or just have glass smoked by a glazier when it's all painter black laquer and shiny the cylinder in the middle won't even be noticed ,and it is essential to hide rotating light ,it is really kinda of mood setting when alternative illumination is needed for a certain ambiance....note it couldn't hurt to drill 1/2'' to1 ''holes around pipe bottom out of sight to promote air circulation
i love that idea with the lights.. Thank you! Not sure if I can pull that off but... Definitely I will research it!!
I'm not sure what you mean about the hammered paint, but I have used the chalk paint on many different surfaces and love it. Where you buy it at they will give you a lot of tips usually and look up on youtube also. I just finished a silver plated platter I did today.
I like your table but since you don't yes I would paint it in a high glossy finish. Also in a wild color so the shape can be appreciated and glass isn't the only shiny thing. I might even paint the inside a different color. Now, this time around, the shape is so bohemian and relaxed.
Gorgeous!!!! Thank you for showing me what color is the tray??? Love it!!!!
Thank you! Agreed I do love the shape!
It is so easy to use and I make my own. Mix plaster of Paris, water, add paint.
Something like this:
typically no. I would lightly use sand paper to rough up the service so the paint holds well but that's it. Then make sure you have all the dust off of it. You don't have to do that but it does help it last longer. If you already have a really bad piece I wouldn't worry about it.
The bar I showed you I didn't sand at all and it's been almost 5 years since I've done it. Make sure to put a coat of the wax over the paint so it will have shine and last ;-)
Ok!!! Wow thank you!!
