How about homemade and embroidered bibs, a crocheted or knitted blanket, wall decor for the nursery. Or paint a family tree that will fit in a large frame and put a picture of each person hanging from a limb. If you aren't skilled in those areas, you could make a book of coupons for babysitting, coupons for a coffee date, coupons for a homemade dinner to be delivered (if you live nearby), etc. Purchase a small photo album with a baby theme cover, put a coupon on each page.

You could paint and decorate a keepsake box. Either wood or paper mache. Or even a ceramic one you paint at a pottery place. Decorate with a cross or an angel or just child's initials.

How about a candle. Find a seminar where they can show you how to decorate a candle. Usually churches give them.
Or a chain which can be enlarged with a birth ring on it. The ring you can find in any jewllry store
