After researching all possible remedies, I ended up just setting mouse traps in the vole runways. After dark and before bedtime I would check and empty the traps several times. Apparently the voles don't look where they are going and just follow their trails. My hubby thought I was crazy,It took a couple of weeks but I got rid of the critters.
When my son and family moved into their home in the country they had a terrible infestation in the yard. Fortunately, they brought their cat with them and Missy soon had the yard clean.
Depending upon the number of voles you have ...buy one of those 'live traps' for small rodents; the box type are great & you can release them down the road...like out in the country where they will do their fantastic job of consuming.

My dog did that before she died.
