Is there a way to level a tile floor not properly installed?

Just purchased a condo that has floor tile in high traffic areas and bathrooms. Some tiles are higher than others, grout is wider in some areas and narrower in others. Is there a way to level the tile floor? Don’t care for tiled floors, but cannot afford to remove it to replace with something else.

Live with it until you can afford to have it fixed professionally. You will have to remove the tiles to fix.
In order to level out a tile floor, you do need to remove the tiles. If it is only a few areas, you can (carefully) remove individual tiles and relay them for level. It is a bit time consuming, but can be done. You first have to remove the grout then work the tiles up individually. When you re-install them, use a level. (You may find problems on your sub flooring that you may need to chip away or build up with your mastic before the tiles go back in.) As far as uneven grout lines, the only way to fix that is remove the entire floor and start over. It was not installed using the appropriate spacers. You may be able to minimize the appearance by painting the grout lines with a color closer to the tile color as a camouflage technique then reseal. Good Luck. I agree! They will need to be removed. Wait till you budget allows.
