Plant them in the Spring. Select a sunny location sheltered from the wind. Try to have the soil worked up at least one week before planting time. Firm the soil around the plants and roots by pressing the soil with your hands. Water well to eliminate air pockets that may form around the roots. Hollyhocks appreciate moist conditions in well drained soil. When it gets hot and dry out, water thoroughly but keep water off the leaves, to prevent disease problems.

    Happy planting!

I planted my roots about 3 weeks ago. Good soil and I water them. How long before I see something growing?
