You can use a lightweight exterior spackle to fill in the crack. Do several applications, wait until each application dries. Paint to match the rest of tiles. I've even used acrylic paint for this job.
Vinegar works to kill weeds (if that's the root that broke through). Caulking will help to close the gap in the crack.
what type of root? i have english ivy. that stuff is really invasive. you got to pull all or it'll go through again.
Try to kill off the root first then grout and paint
I agree with Bulldog.. I mixed concrete with grout. Its unbelievable how hard and tough it is. Mix one half each into a slurry then pour in the crack wait 24 hours. You might have to top it off again. Before you start pouring.
Make sure the boarding concrete is wet so it does not suck the water out of the mixture. Paint the crack to match.
