It should be, if you stack well, of course it depends on the size of your house and the amount of furniture you have but think most people put all their belongings in a removal van when moving. Just make sure to cover furniture in clothes / sheets, to prevent scratches and reduce moisture etc.
Thank you, I have not thought of that. I will get some old sheets together. I don't have a lot of furniture : most of the things I am going to sell. I have built in wardrobes in this house, that spares some room. I don't have a lounge but just a lazy chair and a bibliotheque of 1 x 2 m, For the mattresses I am going to by a plastic bag on Amazon. I've spent a (lot) of money on new carton boxes, so I only have 2 different sizes which makes it easier to stack.. but then I have a whole DIY atelier with table saw and everything.... not easy to fill boxes with all that.
Talk to all your friends and relatives. They might be willing to help out, or know someone who has a garage they might rent out. Be careful stacking cardboard boxes. They tend to collapse if not entirly full.
I know, so until now I was able to fill them up entirely. But I come to a point now that it becomes more difficult, unless I start to take the curtains down. I have put all the cups and plates in plastic boxes with a lid though. I have no relatives in my neighbourhood, they all live in Belgium, 1200 km from here. One son lives in a handicap facility, the other one on a studio 100 km from here. Friends have their garage already stacked up.. but there must be garages or even furniture storages to rent here.. Tomorrow I start looking. Thanks,
Most areas have places to rent that are pretty economical - good luck!!!
How exciting! I am sure you will find something to store your belongings. Wishing you a smooth transition while your new home is being built.
Thanks Cori ! I will find something, I just want to establish how much room I need. This morning I mesured a bit what I have and I am already at 30m3.
Naomi, this transition is just a bit awkward. I have friends who will help me with the actual move. But I never did this alone before. The most exciting thing is to take decisions about the new house : what color outside? which flooring? which NEW kitchen? And also but not least : how far can I go with my budget?
Be sure I will come back to you all to ask for opinions !
