I've been trying to grow a Magnolia tree from seeds I'd found on the ground at the LBJ Ranch in Texas. I soaked the seeds overnight to soften them enough to crack open and get the seed from the outer red shell. Mine have been soaking for several days and are still too hard to crack open without destroying the seeds inside. Is there a solution to this or is it hopeless?
