Use a high gloss spray paint which has no color. Several coats and it will be very slick and modern looking.
I use Wal Mart's gloss spray. You have to use very light touches and spray several coats. I've never had any trouble with it dripping. I also use one of those things that snap over the top of your spray can and has a lever to use to spray. It keeps the paint from getting on your hands and you can spray without stopping every few minutes. Good luck.
