Your best choices would be succulents and cacti that do not require that much water.
They are called Air plants . they live usually in trees and need shade and occasionally need a mist of water . Look online for pictures and care they are very pretty. Home depot and lowes also sell them.
I would go with succulents. Florida might be too humid for cacti. What plants do your neighbors have?
Go to your local Dollar Tree store .....purchase all the artificial flowers, for a buck a piece and no watering needed!

Marti: portulacca is a low water plant that has pretty flowers. Try looking up xeriscape gardens for low water plants.
I would definitely go with succulents and/or artificial flowers.
