Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
I dont know exactly how good it works but I read that virgin coconut oil should keep them away. At least some of them. I would give it a try :)
To remove a tic cover it completely with a thick layer of mentholated petroleum jelly (Vick's, Mentholatum) followed by a bandage to keep it there for overnight.
As to how to discourage, it depends on if for yourself or a pet? For yourself or others, need to wear long sleeves and/or cloths that cover you with fitted sleeve and leg openings.
prevention is the best way to not pick up a tick in the first place...socks, boots, long sleeves anytime you are around tall grass or woods. If you are still unfortunate enough to pick one up on you, you can hold a lit match near his head and he will generally back out enough that you can grab it with some tweezers! Just be careful using this method.
Sterilize your tweezers.Pull the entire tick out making sure the entire head is pulled out. Stress your area with rubbing alcohol.Outdoor prevention is a must. Apply a granular insect killer by spectricide. When out doors use tick prevention.
if you cover the tick area with olive oil it will start to smother the tick and it will pull out so you can grab it. If you pull it out without anything on it you can lose the head in your skin
