What's the best flower/plant to grow in Texas?

"Paint" it with an appropriate weed killer. I've had good luck with Roundup and a small artist's paint brush. Roundup is a systemic killer, so it takes very little to eradicate an entire weed/plant. This is how I get rid of undesirable plant growth in my ground covers.

Round up will end up in the water sources because it is in the plant's entire system, and when the plant breaks down, it is released, contaminating so very much, a little goes along way.
