What's the best flower/plant to grow in Texas?

Blueberries love acidic soil. I live where they grow wild and they grow where the pine trees grow. You can buy a fertilizer or add sphagnum peat to raise the acidity or lightly mulch with pine needles if you can get them.
Go to a gardening store and ask for acid fertilizers such as rhododendron or azalea formulations. Avoid manures.
Ammonium sulfate,however feeding should be done in late winter or early spring.
I use 10-10-10......just throw a handful around the plant........does wonders!
