I've seen recently people dip dying them to get that pretty ombre effect.
You can actually use Sharpie markers and place a variety of colors over the entire shoe canvas. Once you have placed whatever colors you want, on your canvas shoe... Then spray a mist of alcohol (in a spray bottle) over the entire shoe. You will see the colors bleed/spread and mesh slightly into one another. It ends up being quite beautiful. If any of it happens to drip on the rubber or plastic portion of the shoe, simply wipe it off before it sets and if there's any on the rubber or plastic horses that you can use bleach or even alcohol to remove it.
