We bought a cover for ours from the dealer. Then we roll it up onto 2x4 s to keep it off of the ground. We live in central Indiana and this works great.
Ours is in the garage .
Thank you for the reply. How many 2x4s do I need and is it like a flooring? Im in Ohio and will this work for winter too? thanks again
Drain the gas tank first of all. Do a good underbody cleaning and sharpen blades before storing. If inside with concrete floor, just put either a tarp or a mower cover over it. DH puts an open box a mouse poisoning on the deck of the mower to keep critters from chewing on wires or fuel lines.
Cleaning all of the mower, sharpening and oiling the blades is the start. Don't drain the tank. You need to put fuel preservative in the gas run for a couple of minutes and shut it down for the winter. If you have to park it outside cover it. If you want to build a small shed fast, look up framing kits. They are sold every where Amazon, Harbor Freight, Northern Tools. Poison bait is a good idea, but be careful if there are pets around. It will get any small animal and that can domino on you. The tires should be cleaned and sprayed with tire foam or something similar on both sides. If it is possible every month would be good. The tires are made of a chemical compound that brakes down and causes the tire to crack. The heat of a tire being used stops the chemicals to separate. Change the oil before you put it up and again when you are ready to break it out again.
